Bringing U.S. Fulbright Scholars to Sweden
Each year approximately 250 American lecturers and researchers representing a variety of academic fields participate in the Fulbright Scholar Program in Europe and throughout the world. Through the Intercountry Lecture Program, Swedish institutions can invite a U.S. Fulbright Scholar from another European country for a short visit to lecture and share knowledge and expertise. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Application procedure for Swedish institutions: Potential Swedish host institutions identify a scholar from the list of current US Fulbright scholars in Europe. The host institution then fills out the application request and submits this form to the Swedish Fulbright Commission. Once the request is approved, the grantee, under the direction of the Swedish Fulbright Commission, is responsible for making his or her own travel arrangements. Travel should not be booked before authorization has been given by the Swedish Fulbright Commission. Thereafter, the scholar will be asked to contact the host institution to arrange mutually acceptable dates, specific lecturing/research topics, and other details for the visit. This program is not usually intended to cover travel costs for grantees to attend conferences in Sweden. Please note that only U.S. Fulbright scholars in Europe are eligible for the Intercountry Lecture Program to Sweden. The Commission encourages applications to be submitted at least one month prior to the scheduled visit.
Applications are accepted through April 30 every year. For further information about the Intercountry Lecture Program, please contact the Fulbright Commission at fulbright@fulbright.se. Notification of awards are made on a rolling basis.
