Fulbright Hildeman Fellowship

PROMOTING SCANDINAVIAN STUDIES IN THE U.S.

The Hildeman Fellowship was established by the Swedish Fulbright Commission in 1986 in honor of Mr. Nils-Gustav Hildeman, a distinguished Swedish diplomat and former Fulbright Board member. The fellowship promotes the study of Scandinavian languages, literature and area studies in the United States.

The fellowship aims to encourage students and faculty in Scandinavian studies, strengthen academic collaboration between Sweden and the United States, and foster greater interest in Sweden and Scandinavian studies among American students and scholars across a range of disciplines.

Each year, a U.S. university with a strong Scandinavian studies program is selected as the host institution for the Hildeman Fellowship. For the 2026–2027 academic year, North Park University was selected as the host institution. Information about the fellowship opportunity and North Park University's areas of specialization can be found in the Program Announcement.
